"More Broccoli, Please!" Blog Posts

“More Broccoli, Please” was inspired by a small moment I will always remember. My son was two years old at the time when I heard him say these words at dinner after he finished his first helping of broccoli. These words were music to my ears! I love to cook and as soon as my son was old enough, he was helping me in the kitchen! I love teaching him and we have a lot of fun in the kitchen together. I created the blog “More Broccoli, Please” to share our recipes and experiences in the kitchen and to share with others how getting your kids involved really does instill lifelong healthy eating habits.

My son is now 14 years old and continues to help with meals and is always willing to try new foods. Although at times he has been a “picky eater” and has loved typical “kid” food like pizza, fries and sweets, we do our best to limit these foods and look for healthy alternatives as much as possible. We've found that the more involved he is with the preparation, the more likely he is to eat and try new foods! In addition to learning about foods in the kitchen, we have an edible garden in our backyard. I believe it is very important to start kids in the kitchen at an early age, that we should teach kids about what each vegetable is and the benefits of eating them, and there is no better way to teach healthy eating habits than hands on learning in the garden and in the kitchen!
